The Regiomontana University (UR) was founded on July 8, 1969, with the support of the most important industrial groups of the city of Monterrey, State of Nuevo Leon, in northeastern Mexico. Unlike other local universities also supported by the industrial groups, UR is located in the center of town, works on the trimester system and injects a practical orientation to its courses. 

Since the beginning, UR has been a strong promoter of the virtues of the Free Enterprise System and of the freedom of individuals to pursue professional excellence, according to their own unique interests and objectives.
